Furthermore, NFPA 3000 addresses the need for a unified command. Unified command exists when multiple response agencies arrive at a large-scale event with significant resources. When these agencies arrive, it’s critical that they work together and within the same command structure. It’s not as simple as it appears on the news. It’s important for these agencies to plan and practice their response to these types of incidents. Without practice and preparation, the situation will remain uncontrolled and responding personnel may be under-utilized or choose to freelance by responding independently and on their own.
The recovery process which begins once the threat has been removed. It can be a long and complicated process, and always requires a great deal of operational efficiency and oversight.
