Front Door Security Solutions for Facilities

Mar 8, 2019 3:37:09 PM

Front door security can be a challenge, especially when the door is used by dozens or hundreds of employees, or is open to the public. The challenge is compounded when no one specific person is designated to lock or unlock the door in the morning or evening. Without a technology solution in place, employees must communicate about the last to leave the building and who’s going to lock the door. When multiple businesses or organizations share the same front door, accountability is nearly impossible.

Technology

With a modern access control solution at the front door, employees may come and go while the door remains locked for anyone without a valid credential. In the case of public access during normal business hours, the door can be scheduled to lock automatically in the evening and unlock in the morning. Employees arriving before or after the door automatically locks or unlocks simply present their personal access card or key fob credential to gain access.

Solution

Vision’s managed, cloud-based access control solution can be deployed along with onsite door hardware to control the locking and unlocking door. A small monthly fee enables Vision to host the employee database and software interface. Additionally, Vision creates and delivers new credentials, sets and adjusts door locking and unlocking schedules, adds and deletes users, etc.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Front door security with or without a schedule
  • No server or extra computer hardware onsite
  • Managed services eliminate administrative tasks
  • Scalable for future system expansion and integrated video surveillance options
  • Vision Investment Plan (VIP) option for proactive, scheduled hardware and software maintenance

Thinking Ahead

The Vision team can design and install a technology solution to keep the building safe. They can also implement a cloud-based, managed access control software platform that is scalable for future expansion. Where integration is recommended, Vision can provide the building with one user interface platform that manages door access control as well as security camera video surveillance. This allows for a unified approach, minimizing complexity during emergency situations and streamlining post-incident investigations.
