Vision offers Asset Accountability with Intelligent Key Management and Asset Controls

Jul 21, 2017 7:43:06 AM

Despite mass digitization and the infamous cloud, organizations still maintain many physical assets that are critical to operations, security, and business continuity.

Building doors must be secured, computers and other electronics stored, vehicles on the road, and processes safe and controlled.

Recognizing the need to improve security and accountability, Vision Security Technologies’ Founder and CEO, Barry Komisar, sought a solution for Vision’s clients.

Enter Traka.

Traka provides a way to secure, manage, and audit door/vehicle keys, company assets, and operational processes.

Intelligent Key Management

Managing keys can be daunting with various keys for vehicles, exterior doors, and interior doors. Lost keys can result in business disruptions, security risks, and ultimately decreased revenue.

Traka has developed an innovative way to attach an ID credential, known as an iFob, to physical keys. The iFob may be locked into a tracking and security system, permitting only authorized users to access the keys. This provides security and accountability. Doors to unsafe or sensitive areas remain secure and vehicles stay in operation.

Asset Management

Laptops, tablets, scanning devices, mobile phones, and other devices are expensive and mission critical. Loss of devices can result in a physical security breach, cyber security breach, and loss of productivity. Subsequent investigations are time consuming, costly, and wasteful.

Traka offers an intelligent locker system for small electronics. The locker may only be opened by an authorized user. Once out of the locker, RFID technology monitors the location of the device. This ensures accountability by producing a real-time staff access log. Time and money are saved by knowing who has the device and, in the event of a mishap, where it is.

Process Control

By integrating to building and human resources software systems, Traka can change the access status of an employee given the retrieval of certain assets.

Consider a workplace safety application. If an employee needs to perform restricted operations in a specific area, they must first retrieve task-specific tools or devices. This could include a safety vest, eye protection, hardhat, etc. Once the resources are retrieved from Traka, the system communicates a signal to the access control system, allowing the employee to gain access to the restricted area to begin working.

Consider a security operation. When an officer is assuming a duty post, her security devices are retrieved from Traka which then changes her access control credentials. She is now able to access a specified secure area with her ID badge. This could include personal protective equipment, a body-worn camera, and keys to sensitive areas.
